Transfer Credit From Accredited Universities

Accreditation

George Mason University considers transfer credit from institutions of higher education accredited by a Mason-recognized U.S. institutional accrediting agency or international equivalent. Mason recognized agencies include,

  • Higher Learning Commission (HLC)
  • Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools, Commission on Higher Education (MSA)
  • New England Commission of Higher Education, Inc. (NECHE)
  • Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU)
  • Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC)
  • Western Association of Schools and Colleges, Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges (WASC-ACCJC)
  • Western Association of Schools and Colleges, Accrediting Commission for Colleges and Universities (WASC-ACSCU)

All course work and degrees earned at international institutions must be recognized by that country’s Ministry of Education.  A recognized international bachelor’s degree must be equivalent to a U.S. bachelor’s degree.
