<![CDATA[FAR/DCAA Seminar & Question Forum]]>http://today.gmu.edu/62888/June 19, 2013, 9:30 am - 3 pm

1st Floor, Room 122A, 4031 University Drive, Ste 100, Fairfax, VA 22030

Presented By: Nick Cline

The Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR) directly affects the purchase and sale of over $200 billion worth of supplies, services and construction each year by federal and state procurement offices. This critically important document is comprehensive, complex, and continually changing. All contract professionals involved in a FAR-based procurement must have a detailed working knowledge of the FAR to ensure that they are getting the best possible contract and that they are in full compliance with all applicable laws.

The Defense Contract Audit Agency (DCAA) is one of the activities in the federal procurement process tasked to ensure financial compliance throughout the government contracting system. During this part of the session, we will address the "pre-award" audit form in detail, discuss how to set up your accounting system, and some of the reports that one needs to produce to handle on a recurring basis in order to receive DCAA compliancy.
This seminar is designed to provide an overview of the federal procurement process while seeking to address specific areas of concern an attendee might have. If you have specific or general questions or FAR topics that you definitely wish the class to cover – please email your ideas, suggestions, and questions to ncline@hbdsolutions.com so we can incorporate these items into our presentation. .

This course is designed for the business owners, senior personnel, seasoned accountants, as well as accountants entering the world of government cost accounting. .

Please bring your own lunch if desired. Lunch is NOT included for this class. Copy of the presentation will be included.

$100.00

<![CDATA[Test Preparation Classes: Graduate Record Exam (GRE): Math Session]]>http://today.gmu.edu/62823/June 19, 2013, 7 pm - 10 pm

With increasing numbers of students applying to graduate school, admission is more competitive than ever. If you are thinking about a graduate degree, you know the importance of a good score on the Graduate Record Exam. Used by colleges and universities throughout the country as an indicator of general verbal, mathematical, and analytical reasoning ability, the GRE score is viewed by admissions officers and counselors as a significant predictor of performance in graduate programs. The test was revised last year. It consists of five separately timed sections focusing on quantitative reasoning, verbal reasoning, and analytical writing skills. The revised quantitative section continues to test basic mathematical skills and an understanding of algebra and geometry, quantitative reasoning, problem solving, and the ability to interpret graphic data. In addition, it contains more advanced data analysis as well as more complicated coordinate geometry than the old test. Because of that, we have added a sixth class session to the math portion of the course. The revised verbal section replaces stand-alone vocabulary questions with emphasis on vocabulary in sentence context. Reading comprehension sections have been expanded to include questions assessing the ability to use critical reasoning and higher cognitive skills in understanding written material. Our instructors place emphasis on test content, discussing sound test-taking techniques and strategies. Adequate preparation is imperative to success on the GRE; the key to test taking is having confidence in one's knowledge and ability. Books are included in the cost of the class. A $50 fee will be charged for cancellations prior to the start of the test prep class. Once the sessions have begun no refunds will be given.
