Contrary to what the weather has been indicating lately, spring is on its way!  To get everyone ready for the warm weather, the Mason Sustainability Institute is offering three free seminars that will help you get your garden going:  

Garden Planning and Edibles in Your Landscape
Thursday, May 2, 2013 

 If you are new to gardening, come learn the basics of garden planning, if you are experienced come learn some tips and share your successes. 

 

 Compost Happens!

Composting for everyone!  Experienced gardeners will be on hand to discuss their methods of composting and show how different composting techniques can make great garden soil even with space or time limitations.

 

Gardening for Pollinators and Beneficial Insects

Plants provide the structure of the garden, but insects make it truly come alive.  Learn techniques for creating a garden that will promote better growth, more blooms and bigger harvests.

 

All seminars will take place at Green Acres Community Center courtesy of the City of Fairfax, located at 4401 Sideburn Road. The workshops will run from 7:00 to 8:30 pm. 


Instructors for these seminars include experienced gardeners from Virginia Master Gardeners, Prior Unity Garden, and members of the local community.
