A 2-week exhibition of 16 digital prints by Los Angeles-based Chicana artist Alma López will be on display at the MCL department main office, Aquia building, 3rd floor, from March 26th to April 5th. On March 28th,
The Symposium on Censorship and the Persecution of Latinas will feature LA-based Chicana artist Alma Lopez, and UCLA professor and award-winning author Alicia Gaspar de Alba. The symposium includes a screening of I Love Lupe (2011), a documentary about the Our Lady controversy, followed by a discussion with Mason students and faculty, and a bilingual English-Spanish guided tour of the exhibition, all with the artist. Later in the afternoon, Alicia Gaspar de Alba will lecture on the persecution of Latinas linking her research and creative writing on the murder and persecution of women at the U.S.-Mexico border.
